The Vermentino Winery: a history dating back 50 years , starting when a group of inhabitants of Monti established the Winery, which has since become famous for its signature wine, Funtanaliras, an excellent Vermentino di Gallura DOCG. Five hundred hectares of vineyards, planted on shallow, highly permeable granite weathering soils, rich in potassium, lying at an elevation of 400 m asl, with plants spaced and pruned in the traditional manner , imparting intense and rare scents to the grapes, conveyed to the Winery by its 350 members. The production process includes delicate crushing and stemming, soft pressing, controlled temperature fermentation, automated bottling, development in 2500 l casks or 500 l tonneaux, maturing in the bottle and storage in controlled temperature cellars - ensuring the excellent standard of our wines. Our Vermentino Wines, with their elegant aroma, supple taste, straw-yellow colour and pronounced personality, are: - ARAKENA, FUNTANALIRAS, AGHILOIA, S'ELEME, NORD EST, and BALARI. The reds, with big aroma, harmonious taste, intense colour, full bodied are: - GALANA, TAMARA, ABBAIA, PASCAL. The Vigne del Portale sparkling wines, with pleasant aroma, delicate, lively taste - MOSCATO DI SARDEGNA, BRUT. ALDIOLA passito, from dried grapes, of intense bouquet and taste. GRAPPA DI VERMENTINO with flowery scent, supple taste. MIRTO DI GALLURA with its distinctive taste. These wines travel across the world and are recognised as ambassadors of Gallura, an enchanting corner of Sardinia lulled by the wind and paint-brushed with intense azures, warm yellows and Mediterranean greens.
